Being of service

I've been reflecting recently on my journey and continued development as a coach and why I was drawn to coaching. For me, when I finish a good coaching session I feel really energised, I think a significant part of the energy I feel is from being focused on being of service to someone else. Like a lot of people I spend most of my work time wrapped up in my own thoughts and problems. Coaching provides an opportunity for me to focus that mental energy in one direction, to be of help and service to the person I am coaching. Putting aside all the other benefits I feel I get from being a coach, I think this single one is core, being focused on the other person, or team and focusing my attention on them, what they are saying (and not saying) and helping them explore their situation, options and opportunities, is a meaningful privilege and a gift that I am very grateful for and an understanding and feeling i hope to carry with me as I continue on my coaching journey.
